Boiler replacement and two-zone heating controls in Nottingham

The job

The customer got in touch after being told by three separate companies that what they wanted was not possible. Two said a Worcester Bosch 4000 could not be installed in the property, and a third advised that the two existing heating zones could not be controlled independently. The existing boiler was an Ideal Logic installed in the bedroom, and it ran loudly enough to wake the customer during the night. They needed a quieter replacement and proper control over both heating zones in the home.

What we did

We inspected the existing installation first and confirmed that a Worcester Bosch 4000 was a suitable replacement, and that independent control of both heating zones was achievable. Quiet running mattered more than usual on this job, because the boiler sits in a bedroom. We removed the old Ideal Logic, installed the Worcester Bosch 4000 in its place and adapted the installation where it was needed. A magnetic system filter was fitted, and the boiler was connected to the property's two existing heating zones with two thermostats configured so that each zone operates on its own. The full system was then tested, commissioned and explained to the customer.

Challenges

The main challenge was incorporating the two-zone controls correctly while making sure the new boiler ran as intended. Other installers had advised that the arrangement was either unsuitable or not possible. A proper technical assessment showed otherwise and gave us a practical, reliable way to do it.

The result

The work was completed in a single day. The customer now has a considerably quieter boiler, which matters a great deal given that it is installed in a bedroom, and both heating zones run independently through their own thermostats for better comfort and control. The system was tested and left working correctly, and the customer was very pleased with the result. It is a good example of why a proper technical assessment matters: work that had been described as impossible was completed without issue.
